Dillon, CO - elev. 9100'
The town of Dillon includes a small, quiet downtown, overlooking Lake Dillon. The newly renovated amphitheater, however, brings top talent to its spectacular venue and is a popular spot for weekend music concerts over the summer months. There is also a residential community called Dillon Valley, and a shopping center area called Dillon Ridge, complete with movie theatre, grocery store, Starbucks, and REI.
Why we love Dillon:
- The free summer concerts at the Dillon Amphitheater
- Yes, there is actually live theatre in Summit County at the Lake Dillon Theatre Company.
- Dillon is also home to the Skyline 8 Cinemas, the county's only big movie theater.
- The best place for a photo with a postcard background (a place easy to get to - no hiking involved!) is at the Dillon Marina Playground. You get a great view of the lake and mountains in the background.
- The Dillon marina provides easy access to all your summer excursions on Lake Dillon. Don't forget to take a ride on the Boat Taxi while you're there and enjoy a Rum Runner at the Tiki Bar
- The bilingual program at Dillon Valley Elementary has been receiving rave reviews and national press
- Forget something back home? The FIRC thrift store has an ever-evolving selection of stuff and we've personally found some great buys there. Plus, all proceeds go straight back to help the community.
- The Dillon Dam Brewery, Pug Ryan's, the A-Cafe, and the new Baker's Brewery are great choices for a burger and a local beer
