Many of these events are located around Breckenridge Main Street, Frisco Main Street, or Downtown Dillon and are FREE to attend.
January - Breckenridge - International Snow Sculpture Competition
This contest comes to Breckenridge every year. Teams from all across the world participate. They begin with a giant block of packed snow and carve the most elaborate sculptures from it. I haven't seen anything like this anywhere else (although I'm sure these things exist elsewhere). The sculptors have about 5 days to complete their work and you can watch them as they create their masterpieces. Then, the sculptures are on display for the weekend, when they are judged by professionals and by the public. My favorite time to go is on Saturday night, when they are lit up. The event is located in the "F" parking lot, between Park Ave and Main Street, and is an easy walk from Main Street.
January - Breckenridge - Ullr Parade
Mardi Gras Parade - February
This can turn into a pretty wild party. Shield the kids from flying candy and the occasional use of profane language and scantily clad ladies.
The parade starts around 4:30 and runs down Main Street.
